Sculpture School Project

The support of the Sculpture School is now in its 14^th year. Forum Syd and Sida have not agreed to finance the project beyond June 2008. Our adviser Arne Stenius is in place since May 2006 and will work up to July 2008.

Forum Syd evaluation made by Jörgen Baltzer in August 2005 was positive: "Amazing results with so small support. Could become model development project".

Now however the project is in trouble: The development has not been according to plan in the last two years. Together with the school administration we have analysed the reason for the recent failures, and we continue to explore the possibility to continue operating the school in some other way. The most realistic possibilty right now is to convert the school to an FDC, a Folk Development College.

A positive development is that the withdrawn support from Sida/Forum Syd is replaced by Swiss development support up to June 2009. Svetan support to the school is planned at the same level at least up to the end of 2009.
